Nature

A force to be reckoned with.

  • After reading "Nature" in class by Ralph Waldo Emerson identify two major claims that he makes in that essay and the evidence or reasoning that he provides to support it.

  • Do you agree with those claims?

  • Explain why you agree or disagree with Emerson using evidence to support your answer.

  • Be sure to use at least two of your new vocabulary words from the text.

STUCK

If you're stuck remember to try using a strategy like R (read) Q (question) S (summarize)

  1. Read each paragraph
  2. Ask questions like, what is the topic of this paragraph, what is Emerson saying about this topic
  3. Your answer to these questions will help you identify and summarize the major points of this essay.

  1. Emerson claims that nature is not supposed to be feared. He also claims that nature should be valued. I agree with both claims because without the wonders of nature the world would not be what it actually is today. The beauty of nature gives one a feeling of reverence. He feels as if everyone should be indubitably interested in the wonders of nature.

if things was to be up in the sky like stars in a thousand years. how would men believe and adore. i agree with he claims because nature is something in everyday life. the stars should mean something to other people . the stars show how beautiful nature can be.
